tough love
She knows what she wants, until she learns what she needs.
Four years following her husband’s untimely death, Lilac Larsen has managed to hold it together but barely. Then her estranged half-sister Tulip shows up on a visit that seems way too permanent with a child in tow who refuses to eat. This is 2009 at the depth of the Great Recession, and the misery just keeps piling on. Tulip wants to use Lilac’s house as a beauty salon. Nobody invited to Lilac’s big party shows up. And the married neighbor keeps hitting on her.
How much can a still-grieving widow take before she learns that the life she thought she wanted isn't nearly as interesting as the life she now has?
